The Studio

Joan Josep Bertran's studio is a design team based in Barcelona. Specialists in the creation of product and brand identities, it is mainly dedicated to the design of packaging and labeling mainly for the wine sector and other products such as vermouth, olive oil, sparkling wines and beer.

From Priorat to La Rioja, from Mendoza to South Africa, Penedès and Australia, over the last 15 years the studio has blended with its clients to create precise and complex messages. Born and raised in the Penedès, around its vineyards, Joan Josep Bertran has conceptualized products for large and small independent winegrowers, local and international wineries and wine groups, wine distributors and large breweries, and has contributed, along with others who have dedicated their attention to the alcoholic beverages sector, to elevating the genre of label design to a space where agriculture and graphic design join hands to generate messages of cultural significance that can speak to us about origin and territory as well as abstract emotional qualities.

The solidity of his work has been recognized locally and internationally with several Laus and Pentawards d’Or awards. His work ranges from unusual and very personal interpretations to identities based on the reinterpretation of tradition, through careful executions of more mass-consumption products. Always, without compromising conceptual quality and graphic production finishes with attention to detail.

After a few years working as a solo designer, Joan Josep Bertran has created a small and stable team that has allowed him to offer his proposals more effectively to former clients and tackle new projects. Currently, the studio is opening up to new food and beverage industries, to which they also offer design consulting services.
